Tibet religion is Buddhism. The Buddhism in Tibet came from India in 7th century during the reign of King Songtsen Gampo who was married to Napail princess, and Chinese princess both of which were Buddhist. After Songster Gampo Landama had got the thrown and under his kingdom Buddhism was not allowed. He was later murdered by a man and Buddhism practiced with out bounders from that on. Tibet’s believe has been so strong and we have been carrying it for decades.

Tibet in danger

Since the china occupation over Tibet 17 percent of the population of Tibetan people have been lost. 6,000 monasteries were destroyed. More and more Chinese are settling in the city of Lhasa taking most of the jobs and filling streets with Chinese stores. Tibetans are getting eliminated slowly. The original people who used to live in Lhasa are not there any more the places are all occupied by Chinese who just moved out recently. Tibet is in danger of whipping out totally. I hope such a think never happens. I wonder if it keeps on going like this the tourist would not see the real people who used to live there and probably be disappointed. Some tourist said they are already disappointed with the current situation in Tibet.

Three years in Prison

Chinese court has sentenced 30 people to prison for three years on Tuesday. They have been given such a harsh punishment for taking part in the deadly rioting that has taken last month. It begin on March 14 in Lhasa the capital city of Tibet . According to the Chinese they were 19 death and more then 600 wounded, but according to Tibetan government in exile the crackdown have killed scores of Tibetans.
A Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman said she did not know anything about the planned talk announced between Chinese government and Dalai Lama. She made clear that china blames Dalai Lama for the violence in Tibet and all over the world. The Chinese government say that the riot that began in Lhasa in March destroyed 7 schools, 5 hospitals and 120 homes but Tibetan exile groups say more than 200 people mostly Tibetan were killed in the crackdown. The government don’t want to show any mercy for the people who took part in riot. I don’t know what the outcome of this would be. No one ever said getting a freedom is so easy after all.

Human Rights

Human Rights is also one of the main issue in Tibet that is under Chinese authority. A Tibetan woman named Nechung who is 38 years old , mother of four, has been imprisoned . She was tortured brutally by the Chinese authorities in the prison guards. They show no mercy for woman and children. The reason for her being in prison was that she had taken part in a peaceful protest on March 16th and March 17th of 2008. Eventually, she died after days of torture in the Chinese prison.
After the brutal torture when she was released she was in a very bad condition. She had marks all over her body. She could not eat or sleep at night because of pain. Her condition was got worse and she needed immediate medical attention. She was taken to a county government hospital for treatment, but they refused to treat and attend her since they were influenced and intimidated by the local Chinese authorities. As a result she did not get the attention and care she needed and so she died. Even after her death the Chinese authorities warned Tibetan monks from offering prayers and ritual rites for her deceased soul. This shows how human rights is totally denied to Tibet tans in their own country. There is no freedom, no right, and definitely no mercy.

Dalai Lama wants autonomy

The Dalai Lama said in a news conference that he wants autonomy. He said that the world knows that he is not seeking independence, nor separation. He also confidently denied all that Chinese government has blamed him for. The recent protest in Tibet and through out the world is one of the biggest protest in Tibet’s history. There have been protests in history, but the world was unaware of the situation in Tibet. “Our struggle is with a few in the leadership of the People’s Republic of China and not with the Chinese people,” the Dalai Lama said in a statement released after a news conference. He also said if the Chinese government took the troops out of Tibet, he would urge his people to stop the protest. He is a symbol of peace and ocean of wisdom, so whatever he said in this conference is very true, clear and right at the point.

Panchen Lama

Panchen Lama is know as one of Tibet’s most important religious leaders. He have been recognized by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as the reincarnation of the 10th Panchen Lama. Tibetans want their religious leader back and safe among them. But Chinese authorities have kidnapped the young boy and his family in 1995 just after his recognition as the reincarnation of one of the most important religious leader. Tibetans have appealed to the Chinese government to release the Panchen Lama and his family, but the Chinese government say they want to hold him and his family in a “protective custody.” Till now not even one international agency or human rights organization have been in contact with the Lama.

Furthermore, the Chinese authorities selected their own 11th Panchen Lama in November 1995 with an effort to control the internal affairs of Tibet. It is a six year-old boy named Gyaltsen Norbu who has been selected as the 11th Panchen Lama. He is another young victim in China's plan to control the Tibetan people, their religion, and their nation.

Protest in San Francisco

Long before Tibetans were able to negotiate and were more than happy to have autonomy by China. Now the situation has changed since the Chinese government don’t seem to give any interest in negotiation. Tibetans want independence. They want to make themselves heard and get world attention while China is getting its attention for the 2008 Olympic.
In San Francisco many Tibetan protestors rose up, there were many Chinese college students who are pro-Chinese and support the Olympic in China. According the CNN the Pro-Chinese said Tibet is a part of China and there is nothing Tibetans could do about. The Olympic torch had to be taken secretly without having it seen by the protesters. I think in Olympia’s history such a thing has never taken place. Some people are with China and some with Tibet and support there right to be a free country.
Looking at the current situation I don’t think the protestors will give up very easily. Tibet will be a free country yet can not be said, but yes they are on the run.

Biography of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama

In a small village of Tibet called Taksar a boy was born to a peasant family on July 6, 1935. His name is Tenzin Gyatso who is said to be the 14th reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama. He was recognized as Dalai Lama at the age of two.
His Holiness The Dalai Lama usually says, “I am just a simple Buddhist monk - no more, nor less.” He also lives like a simple monk in a small cottage in Dharamsala in India and follow the routines that every regular monk does. He rises up at 4 in the morning and after that meditate and has a long on going schedule to follow. He has won many peace awards. In 1989 he was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize by Norwegian Nobel Committee. There is no doubt that His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a man of peace.
Recently he was again honored with the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal. It was a great honor, prestige, and pride for the Tibetans. In my view His Holiness Dalai Lama is a very true and a believable person. His every speech is always on the point and very true to heart and mind.

The Escape

Tibetan who escaped had to face a lot of trouble. Many had to cross high mountains during there journey. Their escape was not an easy task, many died on the way and most lost their legs. It was a difficult struggle that they had to make.
Many Tibetans never made it and died on the way due to illnesses. The roads were difficult and they did not have enough food throughout their journey. People had to eat leather, yak’s and sheep’s skin to survive through the journey. They were far from home and did not know how they will be treated across those high mountains. Many lost their legs on their way because of frost bite that they had to go across. When they finally reached their destination they lived in Tibetan camps for quite a lot of days and when they were finally able to support their family they moved and did business and succeeded. The struggle wasn’t easy.

Tibetans fight for freedom

In history there have been many protests against Chinese occupation over Tibet. As a result many Tibetans died seeing dreams of free Tibet. Every night they pray for the free Tibet and hope the day would come soon and when it happens they would return to their motherland. But China is growing rapidly which makes it more difficult to accomplish the dream of free Tibet.
Many Tibetans died in the protest on 1959 which dropped the Tibetans population. In 1989 another riot broke out cutting more than half of the Tibet’s population. At the end only woman and children were found in Lhasa leaving rarely any man . Most died in the protest and some fled to other countries with their family leaving all their property behind. Now if we go to Tibet, people will not find Tibetans who have been living there for generations because the original people who used to live in Lhasa where killed in the protest and some escaped. People that live in Lhasa today are mostly Chinese and the Tibetans that live there are from the village part of Tibet. Today in Tibet Chinese language is very important because most of the places are pre occupied by Chinese. Tibetans have to learn to speak Chinese to be able to stay in their own country.
The Chinese government says that if it wasn’t for them the Tibetans would have been illiterate farmers and living in same old fashioned way. They say they helped Tibetans by teaching them how to live. But, if they say that why are Tibetans s unhappy with them. I believe if that was true no Tibetans would go against them nor would they escape from Tibet leaving everything they have earned behind.

Situation in Tibet

Tibet was once a free land where the people were highly religious who believe in peace and harmony. Since China occupied Tibet in 1959, the situation in Tibet has changed dramatically. The outcome of which can be seen today.
Right now the situation in Tibet is very bad. Tibetans in Tibet are in big fear and trauma for losing their loved once. Yet, they don’t hesitate to take part in the protest because they have seen too much of China’s brutality towards them. On March 10, 2008 riot broke out in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, to perform the uprising day for the Tibetans. Tibetans are known for being calm and forgiving, but on that day Tibetans really got emotional and showed their anger. They started damaging anything that is owned by Chinese. In this process they did not hurt any civilians. The reason behind this protest was to stop the killings in Tibet and freedom for Tibet. Tibetans all over the world are protesting for the same reason.
Chinese government has stated that His Holiness The Dalai Lama has provoked his people to go on protest against China. But that is not true. He has always been a man of peace and harmony who believe in negotiation. He asked the journalist that Chinese officials can investigate his office in exile and all the speeches he has made, and said that they will not find anything that relates to what the Chinese government is blaming him for. He said they are all baseless.

History Of Tibet

Tibet is surrounded by snow caped mountains. It is known as the “ roof of the world” because its on top of the world. Tibet is now under Chinese occupation.
Tibet has been under China since 1950’s. When Tibet was invaded by China many Tibetans tried to fight back to protect their motherland. Since Tibetans were really into their religious belief, Buddhism, they were against war, they did not have a strong army base to protect themselves from the invaders. Millions were killed and hundreds and thousands were put in jail where they were tortured brutally that some could not tolerate any longer and so died from illnesses. His Holiness the Dalai Lama, our political and spiritual leader was helped by his people to escape from Tibet, because they knew that the Chinese were going to assassinate him. It was March 10, 1959 when millions of Tibetans stood forward to protest against China to help escape His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Dalai Lama successfully fled to India with no harm but after that people who stood up to protest were all killed leaving the streets of Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, with bodies covered in blood. Most Tibetans followed H.H. The Dalai Lama’s foot steps and made an effort to escape from Tibet denying to live under Chinese occupation. The people who escaped left their land, home and belongings that they could not carry with them during their journey. Tibetans escaped to three neighboring countries. They are India, Nepal and Bhutan . Tibetans will always be thankful to these three countries that gave them shelter when they needed it.
Tibetans are in exile right now. Our spiritual and political leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the people of Tibet have been asking autonomy for many years to the government of China, but they have just been ignoring us. Now, Tibetan are demanding full freedom through their protest. There have been enough bloodsheds of Tibetans. I don’t think this protest will stop very easily because the fire that was in Tibetans hearts for many years had to explore sometime.
